PRESIDENT TO UNDERTAKE STATE VISIT TO AUSTRALIA

President James Michel travels to Australia next week to undertake a state visit at the invitation of the Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Mrs. Quentin Bryce.

This visit is expected to further strengthen relations between the two countries, and is the first official visit of the President to Australia, following the state visit of Governor-General Bryce to Seychelles in April 2009.
The President is scheduled to meet the Governor General, as well as engage in bilateral discussions with the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, and other members of the Australian Government.

Discussions are expected focus on the sustainable development, climate change, renewable energy, and marine research. The state visit is also the opportunity to enhance the tourism, education and trade ties between the two countries

“Australia is an important partner in education and environment cooperation in the Indian Ocean region. We have been working closely to develop these key areas as we strive to implementing sustainable development models,” said President Michel.

The President will be accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jean-Paul Adam, the Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Alain St. Ange, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Seychelles, Rolph Payet, and the Seychelles High Commissioner to India, Dick Esparon, who is accredited to Australia.
Prior to his state visit to Australia, the President and his family will be undertaking a private visit to Singapore.

  1. The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM)will be held in Perth, Western Australia, from 28 to 30 October 2011.
    Questions:

Why is our government sending a delegation on official visit to Australia now - way before this event? Couldn't we do this visit as an extension to the CHOGM? Are we just happy to send another delagtion after this one to burn more of the money we dont have? I was under the impression we are broke and should be saving tax payers money!!
Or are we not representing seychelles at CHOGM this year?
    Come on guys......

  2. I think Michel will go to Australia again in October.

I would have thought he would cancel this jolly Down Under next week and lead the search for the shark that has the potential to maul the tourism industry, the main pillar of our economy.

Parti Lepep does not feel accountable anymore, as it is on course for 25-0 victory in the national assembly elections. We get the government we deserve. Including a one-party state government because of our political immaturity.

  4. Does anyone have the phone number of the chick filming St Ange? What a texture and posture...! :-p

  5. The Seychellois in Australia should stage a protest in solidarity with us who are suffering under Michel's dictatorial government.

  6. Alain St Ange postures and poses while sharks roam the Anse Lazio beach. Jean Paul Adam behaves like a Nancy boy. James Michel packs his suitcases for a jolly in Australia. They just don't get it.

  11. We Seychellois living here are often accused of being soft, lack backbone, immature...by exiles especially those living in UK, Canada, Australia for not taking into the streets to protest against the JAM/PL regime. Now let us see how many of you down there in Australia will dare protest against Michel?

  12. Albert Rene was made to use the backdoor of Downing Street to avoid Seychellois protesters. He did not go through the famous black front door of 10 Downing Street.

I am sure Michel has invited the Queen to visit Seychelles, hoping he will get an invitation to visit UK and then jump on the next available plane to London for a state visit and doss down at Buckingham Palace.

  14. Which is worse; being photographed with a plastic glass at a party messing around with some friends?
Or; At the high court with a bunbag around your fat belly and a termos in your hand?

  17. It must be a dishonour for Seychellois living in Australia to have Michel turn up on a state visit. They already have Albert Rene among them and they have not been able to do anything despite his crimes.
