The SFP notes the press release of
the Electoral Commission and the Attorney General's office on the matter of the
Electoral Reform Process and has the following comments for the Public to
remain abreast of the situation as it degrades further.
* The Electoral Reform was initiated
because laws were not in place to effect a credible democratic process in
Seychelles since 1992.
* It is for this reason why the
Commonwealth sent an expert here to assist Seychelles and it was recommended
and agreed by all parties to reform that no proposal of the Electoral
Reform Commission shall be amended by the Executive or Legislative
authority.
The current executive authority
initiated the reform and the legislative authority lacks sufficient credibility
to amend laws as its only opposition seat was mandated only under a Court
of Appeals decision and the seat was not won out right by the will of the
people expressed clearly.
* The Attorney General attended the
election reform process once, and sent an adviser to attend thereafter. The
proposals submitted by the Commission were work that the Attorney General has
assisted in drafting.
* To make amendments at this point,
is dishonest and shows gross disrespect for Seychelles quest for a democratic
culture.
* SFP ask leaders involved in the
Election Reform process, which is now derailed to get it back on track and seek
the earnest commitment of the Executive Branch to see it through, meeting
its commitments along the way and not breaking them.
* This is why SFP has boycotted
these reform meetings, and we will continue to do so until such time, that the
Executive Branch and Legislative Branch and all parties demonstrate that they
are serious and engaged to meet their commitments to see a democratic culture
enshrined in Seychelles to replace the one party state tendencies which prevail
until today, sadly.

It does seem unfortunate, that the ruling Party do not want to see change in Seychelles.

ReplyDeleteThere is only one way to bring democracy and change in Seychelles,by protest or by force we dont see any politicians fighting for democracy they are all cowad to stand up and fight.
ReplyDeleteLast comment. SFP is fighting, but the reality is that we are also dealing with a sell out fake opposition that still spends its time confusing the people and sapping the will to fight out of them.

Even when the Electoral Reforms are derailed officially, we expect them to attend the meetings with PDM sell out party.

Hence,for resividists and pedophiles--SHOULD WE NOT CONSDER""THE CHEMICAL CASTRATION ofr those Sex offenders?I think it would be a good method to deter them .
Pp has past new severe law in this regards but this won't deter those pedophiles other means must be used.
