Seychelles Freedom Party Press Release After Meeting With Electoral Commission On electoral Reform forum Matters

Press Release
22.11.12

The Seychelles Freedom Party leader Christopher Gill and Secretary General Jean Paul Isaac met with the Seychelles Election Commission chaired by Mr. Hendrick Gappy today to discuss the issues surrounding the SFP ongoing Boycott of the Election Reform Round table. SFP is the only party not in attendance of the reform process since the June 2012.

The main issues addressed are:

1. SBC providing adequate coverage of the deliberations to insure that the standard of transparency and best democratic practice is respected to engage the people of Seychelles in a meaningful manner in the reform process;

2. The issue of selective prosecution of political opponents by the AG office;

3. Funding allocation of parties to assist in the reform process, which is now dragging out and will likely take years, not months ;

4. Lack of Air time of Anse Aux Pins candidate in last bye election;

5. Lack of presence of PL leaders as agreed in first housekeeping meetings prior to the launching of the reform process.

On SBC SFP has asked the Election Commission to press the matter before SBC and Executive Branch as reform is process that must include the population and SBC has been cited in numerous international reports for not being independent to date.

On the issue of selective prosecution by the AG office of political opponents, the EC said they cannot do anything about the AG office work.

On the matter of funding of political parties in the reform process, the EC said they will look into it and discuss the matter further. SFP was advised that EU funding though discussed in early housekeeping meetings, never materialized.

On airtime for independent candidates, the EC said this issue is being addressed under new laws.

Regarding the lack of presence of PL leadership as discussed and agreed in the round table by Minister Adam, EC had no comment on this.

SFP trusts the issue of SBC and party fund allocation for the reform can be addressed at the soonest time possible in order that it may resume participation in the Round Table of Election Reform.

SFP finds it unfortunate that other parties have not addressed these issues, and prefer to stay quiet on the matter and proceed as business as usual.

End.

  2. The collaborator is the parties sitting in the reform when in fact, SBC and PL are taking the opposition for fools .

    This is what happens when people sit in chairs but sleep on the job.

    SFP does not sit in chairs to sleep on the job.

    Example: look at this fat pension SNP is taking per month Src. 140,000.00 for sitting in chairs for 15 years without results, which is why we now have a reform process under way.

    This pension is obscenity at its best.

    The soldiers that fought for Freedom in WWII get only Scr. 600.00 per month while SNP takes home 10,000.00- 34,000.00 per month each. These men fought for Freedom so SNP can live like fat cats doing nothing.

    I call on PL to and SNP to agree to cancel this pension for politicians.

    Let politicians get paid for real work they do. Keep them working, not getting fat on cardiac pensions that are a bad example for our people.

    You can jump ,cry out like a monkey,While you jumping nd shouting SFP has been busy doing waht the people expect from him namely TAKE it responisbility and get the job move forward while RAM and VOLCERE are still in the woods counting over and over again their fat pension for life.SFP wants to best outcome in this process for it is imperative should we want our country move from dictatorship to democracy.

    In a word SFP is doing its duty and taking its responsibilty NAKOR and not busy thinking of how to rob the Nation and gain an increase of pension like RAM.

  6. Let Gill explain his cardiac pension.

  7. This is not my cardiac pension. It is SNP's.

    In only 10 short years, they will take home 2 million rupees.

    Essentially they would have been bought out as an opponent to PL.

    That is the point.

    No one shoved it down their throats. They begged for it, forgetting about the people.

    Soldiers in WWII get a pension for Scr. 600.00 per month for fighting the nastiest war in history.

    SNP is shameful.

  9. The Pension that I recieve which SNP and PL voted for, is given to SFP every month.

    I hope you will revoke this pension.

    When you do I will be happy.

    SFP will be happy too.

    Why? Because we will know you SNP and PLPDM would have accepted to that you have over reached, and made a mistake and corrected that mistake for once in your lives.

    People of Seychelles deserve the correction of a bad decision.

  10. Like your pension goes to SFP.
    Likewise the pension that SNPs receive every month also goes to SNP. So at the end of the day both SFP and SNP are doing a service to their party.

  11. Where does SNP pension goes is still a secret.,RAM has never said a word in public about how he uses the pension.Moreover,.looking how RAM turned multi-millionaire in a decade it will be difficult to convince Seychellois that SNP's pension is use for the the party.I think the only way this can be true is becuase RAM make no different between Himself and SNP, a bit like PP which does not make no different between state and party.

  12. Gill you are turning "green" with envy and jealousy of Ramkalawan's pension.
    He doesn't have to account to anybody what he does with his pension. I may not like the guy but I don't hate him for his money.
    If you want a loan just ask him. Stop fucking going on about the MNAs pensions. You won't get more than what you're entitled to and Isaac will NEVER be an MNA to EVER get a pension so deal with it give us a and fucking break will you!

    Mon fatige tan yon-yon-yon dan mon zorey foutou!

  14. Comme d'abitude, tu parle par ou troufes kouyon. The government have just published the budget for 2013 listing all fund allocations to the departments.
    What is paid to the MNAs as pensions or remunarations is also in the public interests and we should by all means know about it. However what the individuals do with their money is none of our fucking business.
    Question the merits of the payments but don't question how they spend it!
    Fucking dickhead!

  15. Pensions and extras paid to RAm and others as well as the amount they pocket IS NOPT in the public interests..With their astron0mic pensions for life many do not even care after being elected of the people they should represent ,they do not find it necessarily to work hard for the people becuase they are being paid big pensions without doing anything anyway.Moreover,when you look all those PP in the Assembly many do not even have any knowledge about politics,economy,etc.. but just wanted to be there to pocket the big pension for lifeWhy apy RAm for instance,a pension for life while he is doing nothing for the country.He is in fact helping to detroy it.

    SFP will annull those pensions for live.

  16. Reply to Envy

    No I am not turning green with envy over a fat cat pension that equates to a sell out.

    You see Sir, I like many Seychellois feel strongly that these pensions compromise the democratic exercise in Seychelles, and weakens the resolve of the movement for change.

    Therefore, we must expose it for what it really is: a pay out in exchange for cooperation and occasional silence.
