Seychelles Communists Get More Tin Medals For No Electoral Reform

The terms of reference for the Commonwealth Expert Team (CET) in the last election was: “…shall observe the preparations for the election; the polling, counting, and results process, and overall electoral environment”.

2006 Recommendation of Separation of Party From State

Commonwealth recommended de-linking of party from government in 2006 and 1992, 1993, 1998. Many of us remember all that.

However, in practice, the SPPF now PL, have not de-linked. Administrative offices remain political party offices. Government trucks and cars remain at the use of the Party. The Party rents to the government, buildings it took from the government.

The plethora of communist supporters hanging on to PUC trucks in the last election is a perfect 100% solid evidence of this lack of de linking. The Commonwealth failed to address this comprehensively, yet we provided solid evidence of it in practice. It was as if, they avoided this issue, because if they handled it, they would have to stay in Seychelles, beyond their terms of reference.

Problem: For no effective, exhaustive de-linking of state and party- Tin Medal No.9 to the Communists.

Solution: De link, and we will ask you to give back the medal, you will not have to wear it.

Drag On Radio Station License

In 2006, the Communists passed laws to prohibit political parties or religious organizations from running a radio station. The Communists themselves do not need a radio station. Because they have not de-linked SBC from their party, in practice, they use SBC to their leisure and pleasure. Those that critic this practice at the SBC, are simply fired. Religious organizations get free use of broadcasts when they request them only political parties in the opposition are given a hard time on dissemination of their content via radio and television.

The license fees are prohibitive, and the Communists have vowed to lower them. They should abolish them and let the air waves in Seychelles flow with freedom of thought, freedom of music, and freedom of debate. To curtail these human freedoms will make us all live the life more of animals that are kept to a leash to please a greater master. Communists, we are not dogs!
Problem: Prohibitive license fees and policy to deny free and liberal access to airwaves. Tin Medal No:10. Keep on racking up the Tin Medals communists.

Solution: Drop the fees, drop the barriers. Alternatively, to save money, give each party one hour per day for music and debates each day on boring SBC radio. The same formula should be applied to SBC TV. Stop putting us to sleep with Communist dogma every night. We see through you and each day we will open 1000 eyes.

Review of Constitution But Do Nothing But Make Promises

In April 16th 2008, Three (3) years ago, James Michel embarked us on a long drawn out process to review the constitution to make necessary changes. This long process, preoccupied the opposition in Seychelles, and misled them to believe that change for the better was on the way. In cocktail parties, the opposition was told to give their ideas to make things better. Bernard Georges, SNP was even given the task to rewrite the constitution, but without amendments, of course. That would never come.

The Commonwealth is well aware of this. What happened? All the recommendations were placed on a file cabinet and it just sat there collected dust and that was that. We are not fools to be fooled like chickens to a frying pan. For trying to fool the People constitutional reform was coming since 2008, we give the Communists another Tin Medal No. 11. Keep it up, Bravo, communist failures.

Problem: Failure to implement Constitutional Reform for over Three (3) years.

Solution: Implement the reforms or cancel the 3rd Republic, we go to a 4th Republic. Then you can give back the Tin Medal that is bothering you so much. You will make our IOG players proud instead of being shameful to stand next to you.

Campaign Finance Laws

“Money can have a profound impact on outcome elections” according to the Commonwealth. This means, the Commonwealth believes, that money can be used to buy elections.

For this reason, many jurisdictions control finance of elections by law. The Election Commissioner or Commission is responsible for overseeing the finance of elections. However, in Seychelles, it has been a free for all, without any redress since 1992. Over 18 years, nothing has been done to address the issue of financing of elections.

The 2009 Constitutional Review Committee recommended that proper laws provide for reform in this area to control spending and the use of funds during elections to prevent abuse.

Another recommendation in 2006 by the Commonwealth was the requirement of declaration of campaign contributions. The 2011 report made the same recommendation again, as if the Commonwealth are a bunch of yoyo’s going as far back as 1992, 1993, 1998 recommendations. The recommendations have dragged out for so long and ignored, that the Commonwealth did not bother to reference the past recommendations, I cite here.

Problem: No adequate campaign finance laws in place to insure democracy remains credible since 1992. For this, the Communist gets another Tin Medal No. 12.

Solution: Implement the reforms proposed by the Constitutional Review Committee. That means taking the dust off the file. Pass proper laws to effect proper control of finance of campaigns that will also enjoin foreigners from deciding the outcome of our elections. Once you do that, Communists, we will gladly take back the Tin Medal you wear.

All Seychellois Must Be Allowed To Vote

The current laws require a residency period of Three (3) months for a Seychellois to vote or be registered to vote. This is discriminatory to the citizen.

This discriminatory practice is affecting the outcome of the elections. Many Seychellois overseas pay taxes in Seychelles, and send money to Seychelles. Betsy, a footballer in the UK, was good enough to play for Seychelles in the IOG, but he was not good enough to vote in an election. This is unacceptable.

Problem: Residency requirement curtails the expression of democratic freewill of the People. Another Tin Medal (No.13) after 17 years of blockage. You communists are doing great in the Tin Medal category, keep it up.

Solution: Remove the residency requirement. Allow all Seychellois that take the time to register, to so vote. For that, we will remove this Tin Medal off your red shirt, until you remove your red shirts, once and for all, for the betterment of Seychelles. Keep it on; there is no future for Seychelles under your cloud of mediocrity.

Don’t blame me, I just restated the Commonwealth Report, in a way we will all understand, including the Communists who want to ignore it!

It is not the first time and probably not the last time that interantional oganization are telling Pp to abide by democratic election norms. But apart from Interantional organization even our constitution in many cases provide those kinds of democratic practices.Michel just ignores them why? Becuase he is a dictator in a one party state, democratic free and fair elections will throw Pp right to the dust bin of history, and of course he is afraid of being punish for all the crimes he committed,so the best way not to face justice is to keep power by all means including rig election, impede new parties to registered and so on.

Spot on Jeanne D^ Arc!

Boycott National Assembly Elections!

Opposition must withdraw from the process that gives credibility to the Communist Party.

After the National Assembly Elections, every opposition party must hand in their party registration certificates to the Seychelles Election Commission!

Then advise the Commonwealth that their is no opposition in Seychelles, because their is no DEMOCRACY and respect for DEMOCRACY nor an enabling environment for DEMOCRACY.

Once the Communist change their ways, we will hit the streets and participate in the process united.

End of Story!

One Party State you want, One Party State you get, Communists!

The Commonwealth did say, that "the PL and SPPF had an obligation to foster an enabling environment to allow Democracy to take root and flourish in Seychelles".

If that is so, why do they still use one party tactics like breaking into opponents offices to steal documents, and steal equipment?

Why do they shoot at MSR truck with 9mm?

Why do they call MSR SFP staffers and offer them money in exchange for information and documents?

Why did they arrest and detain JP Isaac and beat him up then claim that they had a right to abuse his humanity?

Why did they attempt to hunt down Battin?

Why did they buy off SNP MNA's as alleged?

Why did they breach the constitution of Seychelles, to weaken the CAA rights and turn it into a puppet over night?

Why did they close the National Assembly again, a second time, when there was no real need to?

Those are not the rules for democracy. They are the rules of an autocracy, dictatorship.

Will he himself be joining? Can he bring the PS for affairs of the president along?
If they're short of ideas for a sport, I'll suggest one.”
