The Seychelles Freedom Party (SFP) has deliberately not attended the meeting held by the Election Commission with the President of Seychelles and / or his agent on January 30th, 2012 at 2.00 pm in protest to the lack of seriousness in the matter of Electoral Reform process ongoing.
Specifically, SFP affiliate company Seselwa Publication which prints "Laverite" and will be printing SESELWA magazine and blogs current events on STAR and Seychelles Reality, was not given a invitation to attend the Round Table event. Our leader Christopher Gill has said all meetings must be opened to the Public.
The second reason for the Boycott of the event is to show solidarity with Mr. Volcere, who is being prosecuted by the Attorney General, a advocate of the Executive Branch of government.
Thirdly, the SFP leadership has taken the initiative to write to Mr. Volcere and Mr. Ramkalawan to call for a united front when dealing with the PL in the effort to achieve democratization of the Seychelles as promised by F. A. Rene in 1992.
It is in this spirit, that we have boycotted the first meeting and we call on all parties that oppose this totalitarian regime to stand in defiance when they abuse and trespass on our rights and violate Due Process and best democratic practice in our affairs, be they individuals, parties, or organizations. Totalitarian regimes remain strong, so long as we the people remain obedient and subservient.
