This morning the Seychelles’ minister of tourism, Alain St. Ange, told 7DAYS the investigation was ongoing, but added: “An immediate criminal investigation was opened and we would expect an outcome in the next few days. The crews of both boats were arrested immediately after the crash. They had blood samples taken and were released. This is a small place and we know who they are. The maritime inspectors will decide under maritime law who is at fault and charges will follow.”
The blood samples taken from the crew of both boats are being tested for alcohol and drugs.
St Ange also revealed Rebecca’s family has travelled to the Seychelles. He added: “They arrived at 1.30pm on Monday and we will assist them in whatever way they wish.
“This has been a most unfortunate accident. Yesterday we held a minute’s silence at the carnival which Rebecca was here for.”
Rebecca was a popular presenter on Dubai Eye and has been described by her colleagues as: “a true inspiration.” Rebecca’s colleague, Lucy Taylor, who sustained injuries, including a broken arm, in the crash has returned to Dubai.
Steve Smith, chief operating officer of ARN said: “Lucy has returned to Dubai. It’s great that she’s home on familiar turf. We hope that she will be given a bit of space.”
A memorial service for Rebecca may be held in Dubai after discussions with her family.

Pp is forced by the importance and popularity of this lady. But can Pp conduct and investigation that would result in clarity and who is really responsible?I doubt it.

No investigations in the past have ended with any court conclusions ,i hope PP this time come clear.

What does SFP propose in this case?

What will we do?Not much. For we do not have an institution in place to deal with such cases at sea.We do not have the experts, investigators in this field for PP did not form and train our people in those field even there was a clear necessity .We could have rent foreign experts to investigate---ufortunately PP has destroyed all invidents.

But that is PP ways of doing things namely react later after.E.g Indain in 2010 publicly said they will gift Sey SGC helicopter.Pp knew that but did not start training pilots in advance,The hicopter ,we should have got it in 2012,but probably becuase PP did not realize we would pilots to flight them.Any organize governemnt would know that training would be needed to operate or fly the maschine and would have done the training long before.Pp does not see things like this, for Michel no problem "i give you a pilot licence wihout training and you will be able to fly a helicopter because Michel say so.A bit like his Doctoerate,The Butcehr thinks he is a doctor wêven he did not study anything.

The only thing that could be done is say sorry like St Ange.

Waht should be done in the future is put in place a real body to deal with such case. The formation of
professionals and allow those at the helm of the institutions to organize themselves indepednently from politcal intervention in order that they can provide the quality service needed.

I give you an example. In the case of the soldier whose head was chopped by GURKAS.Three persons were chosen by Pp to do an investigation. They were pressured it seem by PP to give out false statements and even telling us that The soldier was not attacked by GURKAS but felt down while running.Which was a plausible lie.

In any investigation in modern and democratic societies JUDGES are the one to lead an investigation body ,though a minister order it.In Seychelles,Michel dicides inthe place of JUDGE what to do or not,wh ot oinvestigate or not.And that not only in the justice dept. but in all department.

There are many other fields in which the country does not have experts though it is a necessity. For instance,No experts or professionals when it come to dealing with recue at sea(remeber the cruise ship disaster)and nothing to date has been undertaken by PP to ensure we have the persons and means to deal with such as situation inthe future. The possibility that we pump oil,and the irsk that any spillage etc.. could have on environemnt ,you know waht no plan by PP to train Seychellois in dealing with such desasters, nor the means needed though it should be something that we start preparing now not when a disaster hits us.
There are lots of examples like this , that i can give you.
