The Seychelles Freedom Party Leader Pro Tem political dissident Christopher Gill attempted to file political party registration papers before Mr. Hendrick Gappy today at National Library where the Commissioner of Elections office and Political Party Registration office is located in Victoria, Mahe, Republic of Seychelles.
The party registration papers were categorically refused and not even looked at by Mrs. Jenny Adrienne or Mr. Hendrick Gappy.
Mr. Gappy said he had no authority to receive the party application as did Mrs. Jenny Adrienne.
Commenting on the gross violation of the party applicant members fundamental human rights, Mr. Gill said that is clear to all of us, today, that we are in a one party state, with no National Assembly, no means to register a political party.
Mr. Michel has done this all by himself. All afternoon we tried unsuccessfully to reach the Attorney General’s office, to negotiate an compromise to this blunder, to no avail.
The next step will be for the SFP dissident leader, to file a Writ before the Supreme Court to compel registration of the party by the Supreme Court, through monitoring and implementing the entire process. We will seek damages for this violation of our fundamental human rights to participate in public and political affairs of our country.
Mr. Gill said that in this dark hour of our political history, as we are back tracking to One Party State-Communism, Seychellois must unite in spirit and be one in heart, and hold hands, in unity for “Sesel Pou Seselwa”.
