Press Release
22.09.11
Seychelles Freedom Party’s Chief Political Affairs Officer Mr. Jean Paul Isaac and Administrator Ms. Vanessa Gertrude met with Mr. Robert Gerenge of the (EISA) Electoral Institute for the Sustainability of Democracy in Africa at Berjaya Beau-Vallon Bay today at 09.35am to discuss on the Parliamentary Election 2011 which will be held in Seychelles on 29th ,30th Sept, & 01st October.
In reference to the workshop, which the EISA was holding at the LUNGOS office by the request of the Electoral Commission Mahe. The (CPAO of SFP and Mr. Gerenge) spoke of the Citizens Democracy Watch Seychelles which is the (NGO) Non Governmental Organization that will be undertaking the observation of the Parliamentary Election.
Mr. Gerenge who was very pleased with the way the workshop went spoke of the training which they delivered to the participants; Mr. Jean Paul Isaac pointed out that we will have to wait and see the performance of the individuals of the Citizens Democracy Watch Seychelles during the election to make any comment.
Further discussions between the SFP representatives and Mr.Robert Gerenge on exchange and training in Programs in the political fields such as the governor program, Election observing and parliament was touched for future reference.
The recent political status of the country was also addressed by both SFP executive members, such as the sudden existence of PDM to fake credibility to rig election process and the non implementation of the commonwealth recommendation by the ruling party was to transition into a Plutonic Democratic state.
The meeting was concluded by reference to prior concerns made to (EISA) Eva Palmans and Robert Gerenge during the previous presidential election where “Mouvman Seselwa Rasin” brought forth alarming concerns and professed a boycott of Seychelles Elections until Democratic norms where put in place and respected which is the current case by all real opposition parties.

More and more are saying: boycott these elections
The people of Seychelles stand determined for democracy. Seychellois are saying “enough is enough” and more and more people are saying they will boycott these elections.
There were those who were saying they will go to the polling booth and spoil their vote but are now saying they will stay at home. This shows the sort of determination that Seychellois have today, in common with the Libyans, Tunisians, Egyptians and now Mauritians. We have had enough of strong-arm dictators and we want true democracy and freedom.
Great determination
Those sentiments were expressed at the meeting held by the opposition at Bernard Sullivan’s place at Beau Vallon on Sunday 18 September. Their determination was etched on their faces. That’s what we call true militants for a new Seychelles. They are the activists today working to take the boycott message everywhere.
More Parti Lepep joining us
There is something else rather interesting that is taking place. It is that more traditional supporters of Parti Lepep are now saying that these elections are a farce. They will now support the boycott, by either staying at home or spoiling their vote. A well-known red supporter is saying that these elections lack oomph and that Michel was wrong to dissolve the assembly and call elections. He added that it is now clear that David Pierre’s party was a fabrication to allow elections to take place. We continue to encourage Parti Lepep supporters to support the boycott and make their voices heard.
One voice for democracy
Today’s struggle by the opposition is a struggle for the country. That is why we must all get involved. Is it not obvious when you watch the programmes on SBC that these elections are a farce ? Are we really going to let our country and especially our national assembly descend to such depths ? Some candidates do not know how to read and do not know how to speak. What are we to make of all of that ? We must with one voice say that we want the right electoral reforms that would help our country get a level playing field for all political parties. It is necessary that the true voice of the people is heard.
A victory for Seychelles
After the success of the boycott on 1 October, we will proclaim a big victory for democracy. Show your determination and let us say loud and clear that we reject dictatorship. That struggle can take place outside the national assembly. Did the Libyans, Tunisians and Egyptians need their national assembly to change their country ? Seychellois, on 1 October stay at home or spoil your vote. Afterwards we will shout loud and clear -- Victory for Seychelles and for Seychellois.
Mitcy Larue, an elephant, forgets what it was like 18 years ago
It is true that if you ever at all bother to listen to Parti Lepep politicians, you will quickly understand why the country is still backward in many ways, especially in democracy, freedom and civic rights. These politicians spend their time lying to us or spreading fear to force us to fall into their traps.
Mitcy Larue is telling people to look back where they were 18 years ago and they will find the reason to vote for Parti Lepep. That’s where she goes terribly wrong. Anyone who does such a reflection will support the opposition.
18 years ago we had just emerged from the one-party state. There was no freedom, free speech and justice during the one-party state. The police would beat you up to their heart’s content.
It is due to the opposition that we have smashed through these obstacles, and today there is at least some respect for the citizens. That is due to the work of the opposition and people can support us because of our record.
Once more, we see that Parti Lepep is just a farce in this country. Boycott these elections.
Money moves centre stage into these elections. To bring some excitement into these elections. Jane Carpin betrayed and left SNP over money. Now the opposition is using money to tear MDP apart as the vote approaches. It will probably take a lot of money for David Pierre to keep his less savoury candidates on the ballot paper. David Pierre's son keeping himself cool with US dollar notes ise bound to cost dad David a king's ransom. Hard-up young voters may well withhold their vote.
The problem with Mutcy is thatherself was not a PP until a few years ago after Franky leon called on her to join the party in order to replace him.It is incredible how money can brain-washed people.
MITCY must also understand that the new generation of today is not that of eighteen years ago, this genration wants their freedom and that uncoditionally.Change is in the offing we looking in the future not in the past.
Pissedoff likeit or not, there is one fact that is undeniable SFP is moving the whole corrupted system as no party has ever done in the politval history of this country and beleive me no one can stop it from moving forward.

Air Seychelles is returning 2 of its 5 leased planes and is abandoning the Dreamliner announced as part of the 2006 presidential elections.
MDP candidates wait for payment
David Pierre’s and Jane Carpin’s accusations against opposition leaders have boomeranged on them. It is clear that all the money promises to entice candidates to stand in these elections have not been kept, despite indications that money has been deposited into some bank accounts. Candidates are upset and restless and some are threatening to withdraw their candidacy if no money is given out before the elections.
The situation gets more serious when candidates talk among themselves. They find out that different sums have been offered to different candidates, and that some have already received the lion’s share. But one thing does not change. None of them has received the amount they were promised.
Among the more serious questions being asked is what happened to the large sums of money received through a certain notary at Kingsgate House. The 5 million has already gone into the private bank account of a big chief, but it is never mentioned at meeting with candidates. Who’s got this money ?
They are all watching each other like thieves about to fall out. There is no honour among that lot. All sorts of fraught questions are being asked behind each others’ backs. A police telephone eavesdropper says he is shocked at the kind of chatter going on among these MDP candidates. They say that the main topic of conversation among these candidates is money, money, money. The other shocking revelation is how they curse David Pierre behind his back.
The talk of the town is about the money grab. People ask, tongue in cheek, how it will all end. Once more, we see that money is dominating politics in Seychelles and that there is a pressing need to make electoral reforms. That should have been done by the last national assembly before any farcical elections.
'some people gots to have it' ;)
Boycott will move democracy forward
The legitimate opposition in this country, led by Messrs Ralph Volcere, Philippe Boulle and Wavel Ramkalawan, are leading this boycott in order to better strengthen democracy. We are not interested in titles or positions. We are interested in a level playing field where every Seychellois will enjoy a robust electoral system and thereby strengthen our democracy.
We boycott to show that Mr Michel is not sincere. For example, take his statement on SBC. He promises electoral reform and says he needs an assembly for that. Did we not have an assembly that Parti Lepep saw fit to dissolve ? Why did he not introduce reforms when SNP tabled the motion in the assembly ? Did we not see them vote against the motion ? Do we not see how he is conning people ?
A boycott will make the international community take this government to task and ask them to mend their bad ways. Just like it has happened in countries like Libya, Egypt and Tunisia where European Union countries and the United States intervened. This will happen in our country too when we show that Seychelles does not stick to international norms. A boycott will make this happen.
A boycott will also compel the government to make the appropriate reforms. The opposition will participate in elections if the law is applied robustly, voters’ register is kept clean, money is not used to buy votes, state resources are respected and SBC allows divergent views. Your boycott will make these necessary reforms happen.
Seychellois, we have before us the opportunity to make our democracy move further forward from the rut that it is in. We must grasp this opportunity. For these elections, either stay at home or spoil your vote. Boycott these elections.
The Executive v The Legislative: a lesson for James Michel in democracy
James Michel is another reason why we must boycott these elections. In the party political broadcasts for Parti Lepep candidates, Michel dons his red shirt at State House, places the bemused the candidate next to him and says that he will make sure this candidate does some work. That is against the democratic principles of separation of powers. It is not the Executive that oversees the Assembly’s work. It is the Assembly that oversees the Executive’s work.
Statements like these tell us that Michel want an Assembly of “yes men”, a rubber stamp, that will do whatever he wants without asking questions. They also tell us that this man has no respect for the constitution that demands the separation of the Executive and the Legislative, and mandates the Assembly to oversee the work of the Executive. Why does James Michel want to do just the opposite ?
There is already a constitutional abomination whereby the President appoints the ‘Leader of Government Business’ in the Assembly. That is against the constitution because the president has no power to appoint anyone in the National Assembly, not even the Speaker. This is all further proof that the red party never embraced democracy in this country, but instead pay lip service to democracy to con us.
Seychellois, let us continue to open our eyes. As long as we participate in elections, where people are placed in the Assembly without them knowing what they are going to do, we will never move forward. We have the opportunity to make a stand and say that we reject that kind of machinations, and that we want to see democracy progress rather than live with this caricature of democracy.
On 1 October, we must keep the faith. Our choice is clear. We boycott this election in 2 ways. We stay at home or we spoil our vote. It is the least we can do for Seychelles.
Johnny a.k.a. Jean Paul Isaac.
I am going to compile a report on you and your blogg showing extracts of racial abuse and Islamaphobic on here detailing the predudice and hatred and the advocating of fear towards that religion and its followers from your own words. I will send this report to Robert Gerenge and the Electoral Institute for the Sustainability of Democracy in Africa.
You will of course have the opportunity to defend yourself.
You can’t have your cake and eat it!
Dear Pissed off,
I Jean-Paul, Julio, Louisji Isaac aged 28 born 26 january 1983 mahe seychelles Victoria Hospital welcomes you to send what ever fabrication you may want to the EISA.
And in fact there is no need for me to go on any defense as i have no quarrel with the Muslim Community. Plus i do not know who is Johnny as i do not hide my name when i comment on anything. Seychelles Relaity blog is not something that i mane i guess the SNP does as every picture ideas and bits of information they grasp comes from here!
Everyone can have a religion for all i care but my concern is for all freedom loving seychellois to receive the implementation of Democracy not the window dressing of one.
Feel free to write Obama if you have to in order to accuse me of what so ever, i welcome the challenge as i can even take on James Michel Danny Faure and Ramkalawan with his remaining followers in a debate at once and come out victorious.
Just to let you in on my secret weapon; I was born in the multi party era and i have not taken money or killed anyone" Mon de lanmen is the only lanmen politisyen dan sesel ki prop".
Regards Chief Political Affairs Officer for Seychelles Freedom Party.
Jean Paul Isaac.
Michel needs a complicit party, to as you put it has YESMAN in the Assembly. With the adject of Pierre the cowardice and traitor Pp is doing exactly that.it is politic corruption perpetrated in day light in order to brush paint Pp image both nationally and most importantly Interantionally. The latter is on what Pp depends for loans, debt reductions, begging and so forth, thus it is indispensible for Pp to get some sort of credibility else International lenders might feel pressured to re-visite their deals with the regime.
Pp has never been able to diferenciate between the two- legislative and executive. Thus when politicians confuse the two you end up in the fiasco we seeing under Pp rule, which demoralize and paralyse our institutions.
Let us then deligitimize the two evils by boycotting this coming sham election which result is known before even the race starts.Boycott!it is time for real change.

Pissedoff is suffering from hallucination and his situtation has deterioated since last Saturday after the TURN OFF Piseddoff as well as RAM thought dirmly would be a big success. He is start to see ghosts at night and all those souls the butcher took away seem to be revolting too.it is just a hard time for Pissed and RAm,who will supply them with all their perks if Pp is toppled? He would be orphan and might join all those poor of the streets created by PP failed politics,Pissed just cannot afford to lost all his benfits thus his concern that SNP might just vanish into the wood thus he will lost very thing.
Forgive him he does know what he is saying and doing,he just neeeds help.

SFP decision to met with EISA is responsible move that will give the party to address its concern over this coming fake election as well as all other elections to come.Is SNP doing the same,or RAM is busy counting all those millions of tax payers money gifted to him by PP?

Don't say you are the only politician with clean hands. What about Gill's hands ? How dirty are they ? Well, JP, you have started to bite the hand that feeds you. Much like David Pierre who has now turned against the opposition. I do not mean to sow discord at SFP this morning, just interested in how dirty you think Gill's hands are and whether we have something in common in our thinking.
Oh come on let JP Isaak be. He is a young man finding his way, can't we cut him some slack.
Incidentally i was very disturbed on picking up an issue of Ansanm the newsletter published by Ramkalawan, Boulle and Volcere to see published on its front page the son of David Pierre flashing a wad of dollars. I am not disturbed by the actions of a teenager (it appears he published this himself on facebook) but that of those 3 leaders of the opposition. Of all people they should have showed some tact and respect, i rememeber they claiming how it is not right that children of politicians are used to carry the 'crimes of their fathers'. The opposition should lead on these principles: children and spouses of politicians should be off limits unless they turn politicians.
I had more or less same comment when this picture was published on STAR or SFP site. I beleive it is lame and unacceptable.
Vox
Vox, it's all a "do as I say and not as I do" policy isn't it? I totally support you regarding the dollar-flashing teen who obviously has been watching too many videos of Puff Daddy as most youth do.
It's funny isn't it that whenever a person writes somethign straight from the heart in the belief that it will make good change, the person gets attacked from all corners. Then again, such attacks are often activated by the lack of the ability to discuss in a civilized way.
Keep up your work Jean Paul Isaac, if you believe in it then don't let cowards like Pissedoff put you off. The least he/she could do is stand out with his/her real name and really stand for what he preaches.

In the same newsletter Ansanm an article called "Kandida PDM ankor pe esper larzan", the writer states that a spy who listens to phone conversations is shocked by statements made by PDM candidates. I am more shocked that the writer (i hope this is not the belief of Volcere, Boulle and Ramkalawan) of this article seem to believe that this practice of listening to phone is normal. The writer choose to use this information and does not condemn such practice.
Let me put this on record, I am no supporter of PDM or Pierre. But the Opposition is now using tactics which were being used against them by the SPPF/PL. This is wrong: bugging is wrong and should be condemned as are use of pictures of children in a bid to make a point. Let us go back to basic priniciples please.

Gill's hand is as clean as soap.
Piss off, if you do not have anything substantive to say and contribute to the betterment of the country.
However, that is my opinion.
If you would like to continue this failed attempt to attack me needlessly by all means continue.
The bottom line is this: SNP is a sell out party and the sell outs are running everywhere, even to ZEEDA PARTY AND PL.
If Freedom Party did not exist, and we did not have clear thinking leadership to guide us, more people would go to ZEEDA and PL Communists.
Be thankful Freedom Party exist.
We believe in Freedom so much, we offer even the entire existing executive party members of SNP an open invitation to join SFP .
But one caveat: you will have to work for Seychelles, not your pocket.

I do not see this as a personal and unwarranted attack on David Pierre's son. It is an attack on money in this election. Now, no one can deny that the origins of David Pierre's finances for his campaign are legitimate concerns. It is also not normal behaviour for youths to have thousands of rupees in dollar notes at their disposal. I would think the fact that David Pierre's son is in this fortunate and unexpected position is a matter of public interest. Furthermore, he put the photo in the public domain. If he thinks he is entitled to brag to us he is doing well and Dad is doing well, then others are entitled to comment too. Sweeping it under the carpet because his Dad is a politician would be morally wrong.
Other legitimate questions include -- where did he get all that money ? Is it his money ? His father's money ? etc
We should be seriously concerned when politicians and their family start flashing their wealth, especially a politician like David Pierre with dubious political activities since last April.
David Pierre says he has received finances for his campaign. But, incredibly, he says he is being financed by SNP supporters, despite not being able to attract SNP supporters of high calibre to stand as candidates. If Pierre levels up with the electorate, people would not be interested in his son flashing $100 dollar notes.
Prying into their private lives and stopping politicians' children leading normal lives are ethically unacceptable. But that is not the issue raised here.
There's dirty soap, you know.
Pierre is lying to himself,we all know that Pp is sponsoring his campaign as paying all those candidates to be part of Pierre fake party. It may be money being paid by the USA.
It will not come as a surprise to anyone that Michel's government is spying on its people in many ways, including phone tapping. I did not see the article as encouraging the practice, but simply reporting what is being said. It would be unreasonably to ignore what is being said simply because one condemns the practice, or to attach a condemnation of the practice every time what is being said by the snoopers is mentioned.
I do not think the opposition is tapping MDP's phones. It is Parti Lepep that is tapping the opposition's phones, bugging their homes and offices, reading their email and monitoring their internet activities.
I have always been saying that Gill's hand are muddy...and not from prospecting for water on his property. His stooge has now confirmed it!
Eoula kazimir! You are kazimir and I am pissedoff what is your problem? Shall we both come out?
Jean Paul Isaac; there is an old creole song...before your time...one line says; "pa bon dir ou ki la!"
To be a good politician one needs to be humble!
When one gets too cocky one ends up flattenning ones face against a stone wall...
The arguements in favour of printing of Ryan Pierre's photo is despicable and simply pathetic. That photo was uploaded on the 12th July 2009. Ryan Pierre facebook photos are public and anyone can verify when this photo wa uploaded.
David Pierre resigned as SNP sometime in April 2011 (2 years after the photo was taken). You guys are insinuating that money being flashed around by Ryan Pierre was SPPF/PL money given to David Pierre given to recently to put the MDP. That photo is not evidence of that at all (unless you claim that Pierre was being given SPPF/PL money as far back as 12 July 2009).
That photo serves to prove nothing nothing except trying to hurt a politician through his children. This is wrong. The bloggers above justifying have the same set of values as that of the SPPF/PL leaders. You guys suck!
The same arguement applies when SPPF/PL circulated some photos of topless teenagers which were children of SNP supporters a few years ago. It was pathetic and disgusting then as it is now.

I thought Gill had put SFP on banana skin watch and they had already spotted two near Wavel Ramkalawan. How come JPI did not spot the one that he walked on ? At least Ramkalawan has avoided Gill's banana skins.
JPI should realise that we rough him up on this blog only, while Parti Lepep roughs him up while he is driving his pick-up.
Anyway, isn't he being put up as the answer to the dearth of intelligence in the opposition camps ? Surely he can handle a spot of literary roughing up.
Can you please point out to me where have i made personal attacks here?
Yes I am emotional about this issue because it goes at the root of basic human decency and value and angry at you politicians using children to try to make a point.
I am related to one of the teenagers who acted stupid and went around topless some time back, i was apalled when the SPPF/PL circulated those photos to take revenge at what they thought were high profile sympathisers of Ramkalawan/SNP. Then Ramkalawan/SNP cried foul. We all considered this a low which we should not reach.
Now i see the same 'victims' saying it is ok. Make matters worse the photo of this young man is not even remotely material, directly or indirectly connected to the point they want to put acroos except that this stupid teenager is child of a politician. Frankly you guys make me sick! If you consider this personal attack so be it.
Vox
Vox

V
Thank u thank u
I do not see any problem with the photo being used in this way. The young man had no objection to his photo being in the public domain and admired by others. It is different to other people's photos which demean them and they would have preferred it if others did not see these photos (i.e. the issue is PRIVACY). It makes no difference to me if the photo is accompanied by a flattering or critical article of the young man or his dad. You can't have a blanket ban on talking about politicians' kids in politics, especially when politicians are happy to use their kids when it serves their purposes and some politicians' kids may exploit their father's position. It depends on whether their privacy and their rights are being invaded, especially for the minors. I do not think the use of the photo raises issues of poor taste, decency or children's rights, although it does push boundaries. It is not exactly a naked photo of Ryan Pierre with dollar notes covering his modesty. Although I am not ruling out that the use of such a photo in the right circumstances would not be right. I do not see the argument of double standards, as this is not an indecent photo of a kid in an embarrassing situation.
Why do you think this makes me a "sick" person ? Or are you just the queasy type ?
Vox-
I know JP picks these photos off the internet.
So I fail to see what the issue is.
Once something is posted on the internet, it is there for the world.
This is the new rules of engagement for the world today.
Secondly, we did say that if anyone did not like the pictures on the net or blog to contact JP. He did mask the faces. I personally have no idea who is in them.
The $$$$ photos, date they were taken is not relevant. What the pictures indicated, was that there was a careless affection-ado pulse in the Pierre family for cash. On Face, there are some pictures of David hugging some gold chair. He seems to be impressed with displays of wealth.
We do not have to do anything else with David Pierre to get the message across.
The people of Seychelles are on to it.
Perhaps you should contact JP and work this out face to face. It would be more productive , I think.

Vox I have never agreed with you previous post but here I back you one hundred percent regarding the exposures of minors whether they are children of politicians or not on these blogs and papers. I have always vehemently opposed and spoken out against them and yet never once any of them was related to me because in my eyes a minor is a minor and they deserve the respect that should be accorded to them by us adults regardless of how stupid and naïve they were by taking these photos of themselves. It is not our place as adults to take advantage of their naivety to exploit them. The culprits are no better than paedophiles and that goes to whoever is responsible for these blogs as well!
You cannot respect your own children if you do not respect other’s children!
For these blogs; Gill Isaac, Jeanne D’arc, Johnny and whoever else runs them are just as guilty! For SNP I blame Ramkalawan, and all the executive committees! They are all sick perverted individuals!
I am calling on President Michel and the National Assembly to bring in a law against this kind of exposure of minors and it should be punishable with a custodial sentence!
He is not talking about the photo here. He is talking about the same photo in the boycott newsletter issued by Boulle, Volcere and Ramkalawan under the licence of Weekly Publications. Go on, say it Chris. They nicked your idea.
Obviously when Pierre decided that if he could not be the vice-presidential nominee and future SNP leader and to use his new notoriety to get filthy rich, he did not realise that that innocuous photo on Facebook will come back to haunt him.
Have we asked what Ryan thinks ? It is quite a nice photo of him to charm the opposition girls. Have we confirmed that he did not want to contribute to the boycott, before the morality police mounted their moral high horse ? There may be more nous in this young man that we give him credit for.
And I am talking about all the photos of minors posted here and printed elswhere. All are just as immoral!
And this is not about morality police it is about human decency and when not to cross certain lines!
So that "family photo" that Michel released of him, Nathalie and sprog should be punished by a custodial sentence ? You know what, I might agree with you there but for different reasons. Was that not a pathetic attempt to promote a "family man" image ? When the young girl later does something to show that she came from a disreputable home or we find that the country's missing foreign reserves were being used as toys, we are supposed to ignore it ?
It is not unreasonable to expect a higher standard of behaviour from children of those in public life for whose services we pay through the nose.
We need to get the balance right.
Gill, please keep up with the boycott.
So you think it's o.k. to post and print semi-nude photos of minors?
Shirt-less boys are everywhere. There is nothing indecent, unlike topless photos of girls or even grown-up women.
