Air Seychelles finally Bites The Dust And Steller Says Its all For The Better, David Savy, Rajiv Bissesur and Many More Remains Untouched!

Press Release
Air Seychelles repositions and will restructure November 17th, 2011 -

The Government has agreed with the intent of Air Seychelles to consolidate and reposition as a regional carrier with focus on the profitable routes. However it will continue some of its long haul flights temporarily. Air Seychelles will be entering into code share agreements with Etihad Airways and other airlines as the business requires for the uptake of passengers affected by the discontinued flights and seats vacated by Air Seychelles.

Air Seychelles Chief Executive Officer, Bram Steller said that capacity on flights into and out of Seychelles has been increasing rapidly over the last few years. The take up by market demand has not been forthcoming as fast. As a consequence, flights of various airlines generate a lower cabin factor (% of seats occupied) than necessary for profitable operations. “ Air Seychelles has seen its market share decrease continuously for the last few years.

The result has been that profitability on the long haul routes of Air Seychelles for more than two years has dwindled from marginally profitable to serious losses,” Mr Steller said. The situation has become worse as the Falklands Charter contract of the UK’s Ministry of Defence was lost in September this year. Therefore, the two Boeing 767-200 aircraft were returned to the lessor in October before the expiry of the lease. The Government has had to step in with financial support over this last year. This situation has become unsustainable for government from its budgetary standpoint. Air Seychelles has remained loss generating on its international routes since the start of the financial year in April 2011 and the projected losses have only become worse over the last few months as the forward bookings have stagnated and remained significantly under last year’s bookings.

This is partly due to severe financial crisis being faced by many European countries. In order to reduce its losses, Air Seychelles will cease its London flights to Heathrow via Italy’s Rome and Milan after 8th January 2012. Meanwhile it will cancel some flights in between on this route when there are low booked loads. Flights to Paris-CDG will be scaled down as per 10th January from five to three weekly flights operating in both directions with the preferred night schedule. It will cease operations to Paris by the 25th March 2012. Following recent negotiations, Etihad has accepted to fly passengers already booked on Air Seychelles flights out of Paris, London and Milan at the rates already ticketed by Air Seychelles and via Air France to Paris.

A meeting was held in Abu Dhabi last week between Etihad and Air Seychelles officials to discuss further co-operation between both airlines about better joint fares and an eventual codeshare agreement. Etihad has offered very attractive pro-rates to Air Seychelles on its international network operating to the US, Europe, Pakistan, India, China, Bangkok and Australia. In return, Air Seychelles has reciprocated by offering Etihad seats and special fares on its destinations. The agreement between Air Seychelles and Etihad is expected to be signed next week. As part of the national airline’s restructuring process, the contracts of several expatriate captains, engineers and ground operations staff will be terminated. This will also affect staff at European stations.Through a comprehensive retrenchment plan with the Ministry responsible for Employment, Air Seychelles will also be redeploying Seychellois staff to other departments within the airline and to other sectors in the national economy.

A similar team as the one which assisted Government’s own retrenchment program in 2008-9 will work closely with Air Seychelles to re-position staff and to have a smooth transition for redeployment. Mr Steller also announced that Air Seychelles will immediately be making the necessary arrangements to plan the return of the three Boeing 767-300 aircraft, which cost the airline some Euros 1m per month in fixed costs.A high level delegation from Seychelles will soon meet with the aircraft lessor to organise the early return of the existing B767-300 aircraft. For the profitable regional operations, Air Seychelles is looking for a new B737-800 as the most appropriate rightsized aircraft to enhance its regional operations.

Potential flights to India and Abu Dhabi for Asian connections with Etihad to bring in more diverse tourism are being explored. In particular, the South African market has seen a healthy growth for which this Christmas season an additional 6 flights have been scheduled. At the same time, Air Seychelles will apply extra emphasis to its profitable domestic operations and handling of aircraft, passengers and cargo.Ends.

We have attempted for 30 years to have a house/place to represent IOMF - Indian Ocean Interdisciplinary Management Foundation in Sechelles Seychelles.

Gros Ida had wanted to sell us her house at Anse aux Pins near the Gulf Course for Rs1.2 millions - a few months later she was killed.

President JA Michel, the SPPF and other judge their think tank Equator Institute would replace/play the role IOIMF had envisaged - been playing since 1979. Mr Alan St Ange over the past 25 years have picked up here and there what IOIMF is all about, its important achievements - yet.

We formed part of those who formulated an Air Seychelles - events and issues the past 33 years.

Gill you are one of those who called for more foreign airlines to come and fly to Seychelles. So many of you did and now you point the finger at others. Coward. We at Air Seychelles who have cried our eyes out today regret the day Emirates and others were given more flights than the original four flights agreed upon in 2004. Rene was smart to understand this but it all changed when Michel opened the skies to one and all. The chairman Capt Savy then openly criticised this decision and when he addressed all the staff at the iccs he said that if we were to survive we needed to do charters . Again you all criticised the falklands charter and a charter from Mozambique was cancelled in April this year. Why ?? We hate each and every one of you who helped kill our international airline including you Gill and all you bloody idiots.

Reply to Idiot-

I never called for foreign airlines. I called for Air Seychelles to smarten up and open the Board of Directors and leadership to make it sharp enough to compete with any airline. It is possible. But Air Seychelles suffered from too much internal inbreeding. This is why it failed.

Who has been accountable for the $6 million spending spree recently,to upgrade pearl class on two planes 767-200 that we did not own and have since returned before they fall out of the sky? No one.

$6 Million for your information is nearly Sr. 100 Million.

Who is accountable for the bad decision to build Air Seychelles office building, with no business angle to it to offset expenses of operation?

Who has been held accountable for buying new twin otters and reselling a shorts when we were told the shorts was ideal for Seychelles? Enough with the Bullllll shit!Pardon my French!

Who is held accountable for a $1Million VIP Lounge and countless little Air Seychelles shops in the departure lounge that go no where?

Who is held accountable for no Public Relations program for Air Seychelles, they did not even speak to the Tourism Trade for years?

Who is accountable for flying to Maldives?

Who is accountable for flying to India?

Who is accountable for selling seats on Air Seychelles to Air Mauritius for Mauritian market?

Who gave out Pearl Class seats to cocktail party friends and politicos and DA's Army Air Force, Coat Guard for free? Those seats are the profit margin of any airline.

Who gave free cargo to Eden Island and Savy and company from Jo Burg for years?

I think you get my point.

The situation at Air Seychelles saddens me greatly and makes me mad because we can do better then that.

Unfortunately a bunch of communist run the country, so you can expect more failure and more selling out!

The blame stops at the door of SPPF, Le Pep and David Savy, the Airline has been hemorrhaging money for years, and one day it had to come to an end when there is NO MORE TAX PAYERS MONEY!

Who did, whatever they did; either gave senk or went to the field to praise Michel.

What we need is to support them in this moment of grief. When they make these hurls and cries this is a sign that change is near. So let’s bring in a new mentality unlike those from past opposition leaders, that wanted to have everyone judged because they voted sppf now PL.
They may be free man but not in a free country, but there are freedom loving seychellois willing to help when they speak their mind. We seychellois need to come together asa nation and uphold our country.

God bless all freedom loving seychellois and everybody around the world.

After seeling out our patrimony, the butcher and his minions are about to sell out what was once the pride of our country. The agree with Ethifad is just another shot in the dark, which will make our National comapny nothing than a secondary comapny at the service of an Arab company.Soon they will probably take over the control of our Interantional Airport thus allowing Khalifa and clans to transport whatever they want, when they want ,as they want into our land whithoput cimmigration, custom control something which is already being done by Arabs with the consesnt of Pp gangters.
Ethopia Ariways has postpone its operation to Seychelles, according to the Airline it is for operational reasons ,but for us its becuase of the pressure we excerting on Pp fail politics.

No preferential treatment for Emirates - 21.10.2010

Gerard Payet’s letter “Putting all our eggs in one basket?” (Nation, October 15) has brought to light an interesting debate concerning the “opening up” of Seychelles’ skies to new airlines.

Mr Payet is, however, misguided in believing that Emirates airline has been given preferential treatment, and that no other airline has been welcomed to Seychelles. This is far from the truth, and needs to be clarified.

We are investing a lot of energy and marketing power to open up our tourist market to new visitors from around the world, such as from China, India and the Middle East.

In the last three years, Seychelles has had talks with many airlines including Ethiopian Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Air Berlin, Air Europa, Air China, Jet Airways (India), Iberian Airlines, Comair and Thai Airlines, and they have all expressed a great interest in flying to Seychelles.

However, these carriers have not as yet taken the decision to fly here, although discussions are still open, primarily because of the risk involved in creating new long-haul routes during a global recession when many airlines faced bankruptcy.

Emirates is an airline that has fared well during the recession, and because Dubai is only four hours’ flight from Seychelles, the airline was already in an attractive position to add Seychelles as a medium-haul flight.

It took a risk and found it was profitable, which is a positive example for other airlines wishing to fly to Seychelles, as Emirates has proved that the Seychelles connection can be a successful operation.

Furthermore, Dubai is a major international airport “hub”, so in return Seychelles has benefited from this by becoming more accessible to travellers from North America, Russia, Australia, Africa and European countries where Air Seychelles is not present.

By giving access to more airlines, we are not diminishing the importance of our national air carrier Air Seychelles. Air Seychelles is, and remains, part of our Seychelles Brand, our national pride, and tradition.

We need to continue to guarantee the quality of the Air Seychelles service. New airlines coming to Seychelles should not be a threat but instead a sign of healthy competition, and the growth of the market.

While Air Seychelles may not always have the largest market share of passenger arrivals, it can still be the best airline of the region, and have planes which are full, make a profit, and at the same time make substantial revenue from its excellent ground-handling operations when more planes from new destinations start flying to Seychelles.

Air Seychelles has a distinct advantage as the primary long-haul, non-stop carrier, which offers travellers the comfort of arriving directly on our shores from Europe. By all means it should retain this position.

The Seychelles Tourism Board, and the government, have the responsibility to look at all the available hotel beds, large hotels and the small Seychellois-owned establishments. We owe it to every industry player to be able to ensure that visitor arrival numbers remain on the increase, and for this to happen we need airlines to fly to Seychelles with tourists for our hotels.

Right across democratic World when politic, politicians mess up of the size they have at Air Seychelles - the people, the public, the workers affected, their Union apply to the court for the Rights to March and Protest.

President FA Rene the Founder of SPUP/SPPF would have insisted - demanded it and that Heads roll.

Just for your information Vice President Belmont got/found himself in "a situation" with our person over some of the issues, Mr Alan St Ange had not yet come in the picture.

Over the Seychelles Radio, TV, Seychelles Nation given the size and filth of the Corruption, crooked and corrupted benchmark and decision mechanism only at public debate, rally and marches, protest the crap, the filth will be force to come out/ouze out.

This situation/crises is worse than "La Miser Di leau Ka Ka" Water pollution.

To rub salt into the wounds of all those hundreds of people who have lost their jobs thanks to Parti le Pep, the government will be giving themselves a nice fat bonus next month from the TAX PAYERS! Mrs Marie Louis Potter should forward a motion to have this bonus cancelled permanently as it is a disgrace when so many people are living on the breadline. Bonuses are paid for good performance and this certainly does not apply to the government of the past 35 years!

While David Savy was mis-running Air Seychelles, he was a director of the Velling aircraft leasing company. Velling Ltd claims Air Seychelles as one of its clients.

Have you also noticed that none of the other directors is involved with their country's airline or airport management, apart from David Savy that is.

While Velling looks like a Mauritian outfit, it does not list Air Mauritius as one of its clients.

No wonder Air Seychelles is stopping flying.

I could well imagine knowing PP's criminal records that David Savy is also share holder in this private company and probably he has stolen Tax payers money to invest in this private company he is a share holder.

But since we under a communist regime,we never know if he has stolen form Air Seychelles or nor ,for communist does not conduct investigation, does not sanction thosr for mal-practice but promote them inot higher position.YOu have come to realeas by now that we have not heard for almost a year on SEPEC of whether it is making a profit or not, nothing at all though it a government owed business.May be Adam shouls come forward an enlight us on where does SEPEC stand or maybe it is already bankrutped as Air Seychelles too.

Tried booking 3 seats to Seychelles from London for March 2012. I expected an average price of £700. To my surprise, the competition is very weak, without Air Seychelles and the average price is £800 Emirates, Qatar & Etihad. Incidentally, Maldives is further away from London and the average price for flight is £650.

Air Seychelles staff must walk out on STELLER NOW!

Sesel Pou Seselwa!

That price are high,is not only becuase the company needs money, the objective behind is more profound, keeping in the butcher and his ilks objective is to sell out all we have to Arabs, the butcher wants us to a colony and depend on foreigners for when that happen we will become slave then Pp can stay for ever on power with ofreign helps.Pp with his >Arbas companies Ethid,Qatar and others want to dismantle our National company to their favors and the butcher is faciliating that.Soon our National Airport which usually a strategy point of a country's soveirenty and for security reason will soon be Arabs then they will be able to import whatever they want on our shores legal as illegal without repecting our laws and our sovereignty.

ALL AIRSEYCHELLES STAFF SHOULDORGANIZE A ASTRIKE SOON AND KEEP ALL AIRSEY PLANES GROUNDING IN ORDER to force Pp to astop its sell out and disrspect of Seychellois dignity.Pp regime works for foreigners not Seychellois, its does not do what it should namely cares of the well-fare of its people .

Solution.time to get rid of communist ,time for regime change.

But if for whatever reason mass protests is call by any party ,i will be vonluntary to lead it any protest and that 24 hours on 24 hours until we get what we want, for i am convince that no army in the world is stronger than that of people's power,if you donot beleive me ask the Mubarak,Ben Ali they will tell you.

The total is not that important but the motivation and determination .it tooks one guy in Tunisia to get the people into the streets. And in Eygpt it was also a few handful of youngsters who iniciated the protests and when Mubarak started to shoot on them more people started to take into the streets resulting in Mubarak distitution.

The leadership of the Air Seychelles strike must come from their own staff and employees.

The time to cry complain and hide is over. You are already dead under PL, so fear nothing.

This means you must not worry about losing your job under PL, your job is already gone.

The Tourism trade will absorb you and you will replace GOP workers running hotels.

But you will never have a chance to stand up for your rights and for your beloved country and our beloved national air line,in your life as you do today.

RAM is back ,now he can continue pocketing tax payers money by prostituting with PP.
We must watch RAM action step by step and keep him under the microscope at all time, for our little greedy multi-millionaire priest might chave been sent to penetrate the oppostion first as a man of good ,playing the unity of the oppostion but who can switch or act in a way that would disunite oppostion thus weaken us to favor Pp when election time comes.
RAM track record shows that he has become expert in faking and playing a fool out of the people.

But for now we will give RAm some time to prove himself and show us that he has change or he will be expose mre than ever.We do not have time limit oppose on RAm within which he has to prove himself and come out clean, but it must not be too long either.

Else RAm must ,as you put go plant Bananas,or since we need more men to defence our country from Pirates and taking in concideration all the wealth ammass on the baxck of tax payers to bullshit them,i think he must be ordered or forced to participate in defending our land by protecting fishmen at sea.He can have Marengo on his side to advice him on how to kill.
