President Mohamed Nasheed Resigns to respect Democracy and Becomes a contender for the Mo Ibrahim Prize, If James Alix Michel Sham Elected President Of Seychelles Resigns, With His Track Record Of Human Rights Violation On The People Of Seychelles, As A Head Of State He Remains To Be The One Who Will Win The Mo Ibrahim Prize Undisputed

Resignation: Views from Maldives     Maldives country profile  Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed has resigned after weeks of demonstrations and a mutiny by some police officers.  Vice-President Waheed Hassan was sworn in vowing to uphold the "rule of law".  Mr Nasheed is being held against his will by security forces at the presidential palace in the capital, his brother told the BBC.  Tensions escalated after the Maldives army arrested a senior judge last month, prompting bitter street protests in the Indian Ocean island chain.  "Security forces say they can't release him, he wants to come home," Mr Nasheed's brother, Ibrahim Nasheed, told the BBC, adding the security forces said there were concerns for his safety if he was released. Continue reading the main story Analysis Olivia Lang BBC News  It is a startling turn of events for a man heralded as the harbinger of change who pledged to complete the archipelago's transition to democracy.  In recent years, Mr Nasheed had attracted worldwide attention for his campaign for action on climate change, even holding an underwater cabinet meeting to highlight his cause.  But domestically, he appeared to lose his footing as a series of crises shook his government.

Democracy crusader's fall from grace  Earlier, announcing his resignation on state television, Mr Nasheed said it would be "better for the country in the current situation" if he stood down.  A source close to the the country's first democratically elected president described Tuesday's developments as a "coup by the former regime".  The army and the vice-president deny the claims.  "It was not a coup at all, it was the wish of the people,'' Ahmed Thoufeeg, the vice president's secretary, told AP news agency. Mr Hassan's office has denied widespread reports that the military put pressure on Mr Nasheed to resign.  The British Foreign Office has advised against "all but essential travel" to the capital Male, where a third of the population live, but said it had received no reports of the unrest affecting the airport or tourist areas. 'No iron fist'  Mr Nasheed announced his resignation during a televised news conference.  "It will be better for the country in the current situation if I resign. I don't want to run the country with an iron fist. I am resigning," Mr Nasheed said. Maldivian police are seen amid a cloud of tear gas as they confront the military in Male in this handout photograph provided by Haveeru News Service Over the past two days, scores of policemen have joined the protesters and clashed with the military  Earlier, a group of mutinying police officers took control of the state broadcaster in the capital, Male, and began playing out messages in support of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.  Several journalists were said to be detained in the facility. Continue reading the main story The Maldives

The Maldives is a chain of nearly 1,200 islands in the Indian Ocean     Fewer than 200 of those islands are inhabited but with sandy beaches and coral, tourism is the Maldives' largest industry     It became a protectorate under the Dutch in the 17th Century and then the British in the 19th Century. It achieved full independence in 1965     President Mohamed Nasheed came to power after elections in 2008 ended 30 years of autocratic rule by Maumoon Abdul Gayoom     A former political prisoner and activist, President Nasheed highlighted the threat of global warming to the low-lying islands     But he has faced fierce political opposition, as parliament is dominated by opposition supporters of the former president

Tensions escalated last month after the army arrested a senior judge the government accused of political bias, prompting street protests      Maldives country profile  Sources in the office of Mr Nasheed told the BBC Tuesday's protest took place in front of military headquarters, a high-security zone.  Soldiers used tear gas to break up a demonstration by supporters of Mr Gayoom.  On Monday, around 50 policemen stood down in favour of the protesters and refused to obey orders. The president's office denied reports that the army fired rubber bullets at the protesting police officers.  Sarah Harvey, a Briton who works in Male, told the BBC: "Last night was really noisy - there were protesters on foot and on scooters storming down the streets and chanting until the early hours of the morning.  "[Today] there's a curfew in the streets, but a few people are out and about," she added.  "I've heard that [ruling party] MDP activists were encouraging people to come out on the streets tonight to protest against the attempted coup." Judge's arrest  Tensions rose significantly last month when the army arrested a senior criminal court judge, Abdulla Mohamed.

The government alleged that the judge's rulings - such as the release of an opposition activist detained without a warrant - were politically motivated.  It claimed the dispute with the judge was not an isolated incident, but indicative of a more deep-rooted problem with the Maldives judicial system and the checks and balances it has to ensure it stays independent.  Human rights groups added their voices to calls for the judge to be released - and, as matters grew increasingly heated, there were demands for the United Nations to be brought in to resolve the dispute. Maldives  Mr Nasheed was elected on a wave of optimism in 2008, in the islands' first multi-party election.  Mr Nasheed, a former human rights campaigner, beat long-time ruler Mr Gayoom, who had been in power for 30 years and was widely seen as autocratic.

Since then, correspondents say, the country has been gripped by constitutional gridlock - parties opposed to the president have dominated parliament since general elections the following year.  A one-time political prisoner, Mr Nasheed became a vocal figure in office on issues relating to the environment and climate change.  But he has faced constant opposition - from those loyal to former President Gayoom and from religious conservatives who accuse him of being anti-Islamic, says the BBC's South Asia analyst Jill McGivering.  That pressure has intensified with the prospect of fresh presidential elections, scheduled for next year. Opposition parties are jockeying for power as they try to extend their influence.  The wider question is how this crisis will affect the forthcoming elections - and what it says about the transition in the Maldives to mature democracy, our correspondent says.

Can you see any of that being said -- honestly -- about Michel after he is swept from power. TERI University might say it as long as Michel is in power.

Announcing the 2011 Ibrahim Laureate, Salim Ahmed Salim, the Chair of the Prize Committee, said:
“The Prize Committee has been greatly impressed by President Pedro Pires’s vision in transforming Cape
Verde into a model of democracy, stability and increased prosperity. Under his ten years as president, the
nation became only the second African country to graduate from the United Nation’s Least Developed
category and has won international recognition for its record on human rights and good governance.”
Salim Ahmed Salim went on to praise President Pires’s commitment to democracy and governance. He
said:
“President Pires’s democratic credentials were further enhanced when he announced he was stepping
down at the end of his second term. Dismissing outright suggestions that the constitution could be altered
to allow him to stand again, he said: “This is a simple matter of faithfulness to the documents that guide a
state of law.” Throughout his long career President Pires has been dedicated to the service of his people,
including those in the diaspora, while retaining his humility and personal integrity.”

There was a coup in Maldives yesterday, simply as that. The police and military deposed the President and it is as simple as that. The president was betrayed by his number 2. Democracy my foot.

SFP can't even spot a military coup d'etat when it sees one.

Do they think 5 June 1977 was a tea party at which Rene read out a letter from Mancham saying he wanted to stay in London and did not want to be president anymore ?

Do they think James Michel was going round with his AK47 that day just to make sure no one got drunk at the tea party ?

Do they think the terror of the second republic was a dress rehearsal for St Ange's Carnaval International de Victoria, and Michel's camouflage clothing just carnival costume ?

SFP has lost it big time.

EX-Dictator Yagoon could not digest his defeat in the last Election so he initiated a COUP,for he knows in democracy he will never ever get back to power.Dr Michel also said something like "If i donot win i can do another Coup D'etat".Things are certain In Maldives ,the citizens have taken to the streets asking that Mr Nasheed who was demoractically elected retake his position as Head of State. It seems Dictators have not learnt the lesson from Mubarak,Gadafi and others they still think they can confiscate power by crooked.

Jeanne D’arc; that’s a complete U-turn from you! Yesterday you were telling us that “President Mohamed Nasheed Resigns to respect Democracy and Becomes a contender for the Mo Ibrahim Prize” (the last bit is a big Ha! Ha! Ha!) And that President Michel should use Maldives as an example of democracy and resign because his days are numbered!
Day before yesterday on another of your swadizan “La Verite” blog you came out on the attack, gun blazing that Mohamed Nasheed was a dictator and was forced out of office!
Today you come out gun blazing like yesterday but this time, as usual, it is in the opposite direction – siding with the same Nasheed that you were previously attacking! Jean Paul Isaac alias Jeanne D’arc why do you always shoot yourself in the foot?

The Dregs of Dictatorship

By MOHAMED NASHEED
Published: February 8, 2012

DICTATORSHIPS don’t always die when the dictator leaves office. The wave of revolutions that toppled autocrats in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen last year was certainly cause for hope. But the people of those countries should be aware that, long after the revolutions, powerful networks of regime loyalists can remain behind and can attempt to strangle their nascent democracies.

I learned this lesson quickly. My country, the Maldives, voted out President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, its iron-fisted ruler, back in 2008, in historic elections that swept away three decades of his authoritarian rule. And yet the dictatorship bequeathed to the infant democracy a looted treasury, a ballooning budget deficit and a rotten judiciary.

I was elected that year, and with the help of the International Monetary Fund, my government worked to cut the deficit, while also building a modern tax base. For the first time in its history, the Maldives — a group of islands in the Indian Ocean — had a democratically elected president, parliament and local councils.

But it also had a judiciary handpicked by the former president, which was now hiding behind a democratic constitution. These powerful judges provided protection for the former president, his family members and political allies, many of whom are accused of corruption, embezzlement and human rights crimes.

At the same time, new laws guaranteeing freedom of speech were abused by a new force in Maldivian politics: Islamic extremists. The former president’s cabinet members threw anti-Semitic and anti-Christian slurs at my government, branding as apostates anyone who tried to defend the country’s liberal Islamic traditions and claiming that democracy granted them and their allies license to call for violent jihad and indulge in hate speech.

In response to these issues, my government asked the United Nations to help us investigate judicial abuses and ordered the arrest of Abdulla Mohamed, the chief judge of the criminal court, on charges of protecting the former president and corrupting the judicial system. However, in a dramatic turn of events on Tuesday, the former president’s supporters protested in the streets, and police officers and army personnel loyal to the old government mutinied and forced me, at gunpoint, to resign. To avoid bloodshed, I did so. I believe this to be a coup d’état and suspect that my vice president, who has since been sworn into office, helped to plan it.

Choosing to stand up to the judge was a controversial decision, but I feel I had no choice but to do what I did — to have taken no action, and passively watched the country’s democracy strangled, would have been the greatest injustice of all.

The problems we are facing in the Maldives are a warning for other Muslim nations undergoing democratic reform. At times, dealing with the corrupt system of patronage the former regime left behind can feel like wrestling with a Hydra: when you remove one head, two more grow back. With patience and determination, the beast can be slain. But let the Maldives be a lesson for aspiring democrats everywhere: the dictator can be removed in a day, but it can take years to stamp out the lingering remnants of his dictatorship.

Mohamed Nasheed was president of the Maldives from 2008 until Feb. 7.

Yes,Mr Nasheed to resigned was the right option,he tuaght us one lesson namely that the people have ultimate power and poitcians are their servant not their masters.Though,Mr Nasheed resignation was forced on him by ex-dictator and some military thugs. What made Mr Nasheed redigned it not the pressure form the military but the fact that a big bulk of the population(probably did not really understand what was going on) came to the streets asking for his demission. But after the last 24 hours ,the same people who supported ex-dictator yagoom Coup D'etat because at first they did not know exactly the reasons for Mr Nashhed demission are back in the streets this time to support his return.

As to the butcher he should take a leaf from Mr Nasheed book though Mr. Nasheed is a democrat and do not share anything in regards to ideology with the Butcher. The butcher should resign for he has completely failed the country and its people.Bankruptcy,"2,5 billions stolen from our coffers, illegal sell out of our patrimony, our passports, allowing foreigners to raped our virgin environment, and an endless list of crooked practices by the butcher.Yes the butcher days are numbered, the proposition we made it in fact helping him to save his ass for if he failed to do the right things namely allow democracy then we will no doubt screw his ass as the lybain did with Gadafi.Doing the irght thing now ,would not spare him from justice but rather save his life.

SNP AGENDA 2012: ELECTORAL REFORM

At every stage of a country’s development, certain things take priority and sacrifices are made. SNP and the real opposition in Seychelles decided to boycott the national assembly elections for one reason: electoral laws and the electoral environment are unjust and Seychelles needs electoral reform.

SNP made painful sacrifices, but they were done for Seychelles. It is for this reason that our engagement in the electoral reform process is profound and serious. We wish to see better laws in the country, so that the playing field can be made level and all politicians and political parties have equal opportunity.

SNP made its intentions clear after the presidential elections. We boycotted all national assembly business, except that for electoral reform. We presented motions through Mr Bernard Georges to demonstrate our seriousness and desire to move things along.

At the start of 2012, we wish to make it clear that electoral reform remains our priority. We will participate in the work of the Electoral Reform Forum to try and give Seychelles the best laws possible.

Seychellois, this work is very important and we will not hesitate to give it its due importance. We hope everyone else will take it seriously and bring forward valid proposals. SNP has already produced several papers on this topic and more will be produced in the months ahead.

Seychelles deserves the best. SNP has been working hard for Seychelles for a long time. We will continue because of the love for our country.

Seychelles is topsy-turvy !

Last year, James Michel and Parti Lepep were shouting “Victory for Seychelles” at the top of their voice. But this year, the very same James Michel has chosen the theme of “Work hard for Seychelles”. You can tell the country is topsy-turvy. Since when does anyone celebrate victory before the hard work is over ? This shows us that the country’s leaders take the people for fools whom they believe will swallow whatever is fed to them. For how much longer will that kind of mentality persist in our country ?

Our country lives upside down. As long as Seychellois are prepared to sit back and allow these ‘doctor know-alls’ to abuse our intelligence, they will do whatever they want. It is clear that everyone must take a stand so that things can change and move in a different direction.

Seychellois must engage their brains in 2012. We must use our God-given wisdom to achieve results. It is that sort of hard work that will allow us to see through the tricks of these politicians and reclaim our country for Seychellois.

There is something really wrong with this electoral review. Only bone fide political parties that have contested elections should represent us the people and not cowards like Gill and Isaac who will NEVER have the courage to stand for elections because they will not even manage to get a 100 votes if that. All they do is insult all other political parties in a hope of rallying some votes. They need to get out and let the real representatives of the people deliberate on our future. Bugger off SFP...

Rogue cop was in uniform on 1 January

It is true that in this country leaders say one thing and do something else completely. The trouble-making policeman who released ‘tear gas’ on innocent people and was supposed to be on suspension was in full uniform on 1 January at a ceremony with James Michel. Does that mean James Michel like rogue policemen or does the police take everyone, including James Michel, for peabrains ? Perhaps Marcelline should ask James Michel for his opinion on this filth.

On Elctoral reform

SNP should say our love to PP thugocracy that feeds them.

The eLectoral proposed by Gappy cannot be serious .,WHy?Gappy and his gang where illegally appointed by Michel which is unconstituional.Gappy did not invisted all politcal parites in this country but did not forget to invite Pierre a guy who has a fictive party of which he is himself Leader, supporter, secratary etc...We can ask why did Gappy not invite SFP which is a registered politcal party in this country?

What would be a good electoral reform? It must entails the following:1)Indenpendent EC,2)equal access to public medias by all parties ,3)spending limites for parties and candidates,4)Disclosure of expenditures by parties,5)an enabling legislative framework,6)Acceptance of the compatitive electoral process by all parties,7)Impartial and neutral practice of electoral administrators,8)electoral watchdogs both International and local and many other norms.
We will keep an eye on Gappy reform which before it kick started ,it is raising doubts about its seriousness, becuase of the premaditating dicision by Gappy and his failure for not inviting all politcal parties at the round table .

Political skulduggery ruins Air Seychelles

Every Seychellois now admits that there is too much hypocrisy and treachery in Seychelles. Air Seychelles is a good case in point. Those who swore to destroy Air Seychelles are now shedding crocodile tears over its demise, and those who swore to protect the workers are now the driving force behind the mass sackings. At the same time, those who asked that Air Seychelles be left out of party politics are the same ones in cahoots with Parti Lepep politicians to decide whom to fire from their job. These are real hypocrites shedding crocodile tears.

Sacking procedures

We know for a fact that politics are playing a key role when it comes to sacking employees. Selection was not based on competence or ability, but on whether the employee supports the system or not. However, to hide this fact, they also fired a few Parti Lepep supporters who in any case have been promised other jobs or contracts so that they can be self-employed. Opposition supporters have been fired, even if they were competent workers. Even Parti Lepep supporters can’t resist talking about this.

Names sent to branch offices

Parti Lepep politicians in district offices were asked to examine the names of some employees. The sifting started there. One list was produced, followed by another one. Even where Air Seychelles management wanted to retain the best staff, State House insisted that opposition supporters were sacked. Political considerations had the last word. They ensured that opposition supporters were sacked and Parti Lepep supporters were retained.

Experienced workers – out

The political demagoguery was evident when you see that the first group of sacked workers included very experienced and loyal employees, whereas those who were recently re-employed and had poor record were kept purely for political reasons. Does this not make you worry about the direction Air Seychelles is taking ? Or does this not tell us that they have no idea which direction to take ?

Solidarity with workers

Bad planning by the government has made many young families with debts lose their jobs at the start of the year. Politicians who were supposed to have these people’s interests at heart have let them down, and allowed their own politics to have priority. SNP and the other opposition stand beside them and express their support and solidarity. We ask them to be courageous and stand with us in this struggle.

6 March 2012: We want justice

6 March 2012 must become a very important date for all Seychellois who stand up for justice, freedom and free speech. That day the Ralph Volcere case will be heard at the Supreme Court. You will recall that this case concerns the comments that Mr Volcere wrote in Weekly about the case that PDM had brought against the Electoral Commission on the election result.

A very malicious case

We in the opposition know the full intrigue and machinations of this case. We know who dreamt up the initiative to trump up charges against Mr Volcere, which magistrate plotted with the Attorney General to beef up the case, which judge connived and gave advice and who said that everything must be done quickly. We must not forget that the Court of Appeal judgement was on Friday morning. All the paperwork was done soon afterwards and Mr Volcere received the summons at 6.20pm that Friday to appear in court to be judged on Monday morning at 9. What do you call this, if not malice ?

No time allowed to prepare case

The other thing that shows that the Government was not motivated by justice was the Attorney General’s insistence to the judge that the case must be heard there and then. When Mr Volcere’s lawyer, Mr Derjacques, put forward legal arguments and principles of justice, Mr Govinden reacted nervously and yelled in court. Does this not tell us that the government was resorting to injustice to favour its own clique ? There are people who have been kept on remand for years waiting for their case to come up !

The key is the fight for justice

Every Seychellois must understand that the fight for justice is the most important engagement for Seychelles. The absence of justice affects everyone and every institution. Your rights as a citizen are not being recognised and the authorities are treating you as slaves. That is why SNP has always appealed for everyone to unite to fight for the rights of each one of us. It is that that will allow you to make progress and get the respect that we deserve. The fight for justice must not be seen as the concern of just a few people. We are all in it together in this fight.

Freedom of expression must be preserved

Every Seychellois must also understand that we must preserve the freedom of expression. Without the right to express our opinions, obtain information and expose all the tricks going on in the country, we will continue the headlong march towards the precipice. That’s what the government wants, but us the people must stop this from happening. That’s why we must come down on 6 March to show our solidarity. Our actions will show clearly that we want to preserve freedom and we condemn manoeuvres that keep us in the dark.

You can count on SNP in 2012

At the start of a new year, we say one thing to all Seychellois: you can count on SNP to defend your rights. SNP are no Judas and no traitors. Together with Mr Volcere and Mr Boulle, we represent the real opposition in Seychelles. We are no turncoats or Judas. We are working for a new Seychelles with a level playing field where every Seychellois has the same life-changing chances and every Seychellois is allowed to live free.

Is this the same SNP who is leaning on DP (the once dead party) for a little credibility?

Now that you are ready to talk, why don't you tell us the real reason behind the departure of Pierre from the SNP.

Why you never took on the case of human abuses in the Seychelles to the UN Human Right Commission?

Why did you break up the alliance with DP in the first place?

The Prize will be announced in October 2012.

We are in Feb. 2012.

James Michel can quick step and make it for the deadline, and deliver democracy in Seychelles.

He can endorse the reforms and make them genuine and not fake like he and Rene have done for 18 years.

He can respect human rights, and charge thugs for murder and disclose where the bodies are buried, giving an accurate account of the all missing persons in Seychelles.

Mr. Michel should know, that families still grieve the loss of unaccounted members.

He can stop selling his patrimony to Khalifa.

If SNP is producing old SPPF requested work to the Reform effort, there is nothing serious about that.

You run in presidential elections, divide the vote so no one can possibly win and get paid by PL financiers to run. Seychelles knows the story.

Comment to "Peace":

I am sorry, I did not write to the ICC. Credit for this goes to Seychelles Freedom Party (SFP) .

Peace says: "give peace a chance".

Peace cannot be offered in the context of covering up for past crimes.

ICC is doing their work.

In the meantime, PL is now facing the challenge of delivering democracy and electoral reforms which have gone undelivered for 18 years. It is our job to insure that democracy and a levelled playing field is delivered.

For this, I have written to SNP NDP calling on them to cooperate and form a single position when dealing with the PL. To date, this letter has been ignored.

Hence, we have dispatched a "Second Sending" to the ex- parliamentarians of a dictatorship.

Giving Peace a chance in the face of non-performance by a dictator is called: capitulation.

When you people in SNP and NDP do this, you are no better then Mancham.

Consider your position earnestly.

A Chinese court jailed a veteran dissident to seven years in jail Friday, his son said, in the latest blow to challengers of the Communist Party's rule before its next leader, Xi Jinping, visits the White House.

Zhu Yufu was jailed for "inciting subversion of state power" by a court in Hangzhou, a city in east China, after a trial hearing on January 31 when prosecutors cited a poem and messages he sent on the Internet, his son Zhu Ang told Reuters by telephone.

SFP does not need any endorsement from any one like you Pissed off failure.

Nor do we seek endorsement by association as you suggest by the SNP and NDP.

What is important which you fear, is a united front to deal with the PL Communist because you use division to divide the opposition to stay in power.

Each day we will expose you and your failure ideas.

At this time, it is most logical to present a united approach to deal with PL SPPF failures which have made their way to an election reform round table.

Failing that, SFP will advance its program, unedited, uncensored.

A word on Terrorism
Terrorism is a fleoh that all Nations must do their parts to radicate in the world and we all agree on that. But what is also ture in that terrorism has become dictators hobbyhorse around the world for it is a good excuse for them to introduct emergency law or state of emergency which would give them Carte balnche to oppress and decimate their opponents.if it does not exist then the tyrannts will create it.We all remember Reef hotel bombing orchestrated, planned and executed by terrorist Miche lthe butcher and his gang of crooks to find a justification to arrest and excute innoncent Seychellois whose only mistake were to disagree with the butcher and cronies.Mubarak is another good example, for 30 years he ruled with fearnad an iron fist under state of emergency:He established secret polic, spies and honor gaurds to make sure he stayed in power.Under emergenca law he passed he execised abssolute power.he had the power to imprison anyone for any reason at any time and for any period of time without a tiral. But we saw what happened to him. When he refused to budge like a bloodsucking tick on a milk cow,he was 85 million pairs of shoes pointed at his rear end.And in 30-second announcement the house of MubARAK DISSOLVED INTO DUSTBIN OF HISTORY.His Empiror of fear, torture crumbled like an Egyptian ghorayebah cookie left in the sahara sun.

I bet the butcher is already brooding over the questions:Whatz if it(unspeakable)happens to me?What am i going to do?How many can i butcher to suppress an uprising and get away with it?A thousands, dozens of thousands?I think Assad can answer these question for him sooner than latter.

I never heard that a democratic nation like Israel was ever concidered a terrorist state ,nor by the UN or any other Interantional organizations, but that tyrannts think that or put the blames on others it is a national sport ,it is always the others who is guilty even when history shows that communissts have butchered more innocence than any other system &0 millions they even bit Hilters' record by millions.Again,of course it is others who did it not them, demi gods are always right ,their crimes have always a justification but only for their fragile evil spirits.

The people is the only legitimate power Pisedoff,if the butcher thinks ,what he thinks, then the people ^resrerve the right to use any means they feel necessary to take back control of their country from any apprentice dictators, criminals etc..and Pp won't be any differnt.

I have preference for people's revolution for it si more powerful. The power of non violent resistance as great Gandhi once said"Strenght by does not come from guns, tanks, planes"it comes from an indomitable WILL".Winston Churchill must have learned something from Gandhi when he said"never give in....never in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convinctions of honour and good sense.

Dictoatrs to the like og the butcher, speak to their victims in the languange of violence, terror becuase their raison dêtre is to hate and spread hate.Their very soul stirs with hatred often damanged by shildhood expereices and feeelings of inferiority.Hilter nad Stalin exhibited strong hatred towards Jews,Tigans,ROMAS from shildhood, and becuase they felt woefully inadequate, they did things to try and show everybody that they have power.

To shot and kill and maim unarmed protests in the streets (like Mubarak,Gadhafi did)is not asign of strenght,it is asign of fear and cowardice. To harrass ,jail, intimidate wholesale oppostion leaders, journalists and dissidents is not a demonstration of control but the ultimate manifestation of lack of control.

Piseedoff there is simply solution to get rid of your fear, all you and Pp cronies have to do is democratize the country ,give back the people their country back and present yourself peacefully for justice, then i am sure it would save your ass.
