Members of the Anglican Communion have been asked to provide prayer and financial support for the Diocese of Seychelles which has been badly hit by flooding due to recent extreme weather.

The Primate and Bishop of Mauritius, Archbishop Ian Ernest, has written to supporters to raise awareness of the crisis--which appears to have been largely ignored by global media--and to ask for assistance.

"Following the natural calamity which has hit the Seychelles in the past days, I am sad to inform you that the country and the diocese have suffered heavy losses from the floods," he wrote. "Church buildings and other important structures have been destroyed. However we give thanks to the Lord as there has been no loss of life.

"I as Archbishop of the Province, therefore, call on your solidarity to sustain the diocese of Seychelles as it strives to recover the loss suffered in the last few days. Your prayerful support and gesture of generosity will be greatly appreciated."

The Seychelles declared a state of emergency on Monday after it was hit by a series of rare floods and landslides in three districts of the main island of Mahe. There are reports of flooding in more than 150 houses and the government, led by president James Michel, has since set up a task force to address the situation.

Seychelles, a former British and French colony, comprises 115 islands with 85,000 inhabitants the majority of whom live on Mahe.

A bank account has been opened in the Province to support the relief and rehabilitation efforts of the diocese:

Believers must help our churches and help as we can our citizens in need.

I will take the opportunity to call on RAM to participate by gving some of these millions he has been pocketed in pension for life for years now,and ask all PP and ilks to give up thier illegal pension for life thus lead by example while they calling on ordinary citizens to participate.

PP is calling for interantional fianacial help---I remind PP that we have ü$2,5 billions in Swiss bank, enough to build ,rebuild waht have been destroyed etc.. without the need for foreign aids ,all LAPORTE has to do is called the SWISS bank and ask them to transfer the money in National banks.

How much will Gill donate from all the profit he's making on tourism?

Giving has been something he has been doing for sometime now as businessman even before LAPORTE unilateraly imposed CRS on businesses. He is a patriot by nature ,so waht he will do sahould be a concern ,for he will do waht he think he can do ,as when he does what he does even when there is no desaster .
I would rather be concerned of what those in the PP to likes GLENNY ,FRANCIS;DAVID;FAR,ADAM and the rest who told millions for our coffers will do.Maybe it is a time fro them to give back some of those millions they haver stolen,ît would not affect them for it would be a drop of water in the ocean.

But,there is a real solution than asking people to donate money which i must say after Pp banurpted us,many Seychellois wanot be able to donate anything even if they would have liked ,for they are poorer than three decades ago and hainvg difficulty to make end meet, and that is asking LAPORTE to bring back our u$ 2,5 >Billions. If that is not enough,PP can ask Khalfia,Heegar, and others to pay their taxes, duties etc.. then we will have enough money to rebuild etc..

Other sources where PP can find money to rebuild:Laporte can use SFP^s VAT refrom proposal thus that everybody pay their dues.IMFand world Bank multi-millions in iaids never accounted for by PP,could for once be used properly in the benefit of the people and country.SEPC money beinf rob can be accounted for, dito to IDC.etc

Maybe the good old Mr. Rene can donate to help the 'The People"

Why should the hard working Seychellois pay for this disaster? I am sure that many will help due to their good heart. BUT REALLY PISSEDOFF WHO’S DUTY IS IT TO GIVE BACK TO THE PEOPLE WHAT WAS STOLEN FROM THEM EH?
When everyone knows far too well that it was PL who rob the country and the people of its wealth.

It is time for JAM to wear his begging bowl over his head, for I am doing everything in the book to squeeze his balls until he goes blue in the face. I am hoping that all donations will go to the people and not his international bank accounts. Even Amnesty international knows that you are a crook.
My little investigator African friend is helping me with something, and soon JAM will not have legs to stand on (sort of speak)

It was not Gill who stole the country's wealth, so why ask how much of his profit is he willing to give?
As far as I remember it was Albert Rene and James Michel responsible for stealing the country's wealth.
In case you didn't know Gill and many others are already helping some of the victims. Did you asked Wavel how much is he helping out of his pension which he acquire by the sweat of the nation while he sit, and sleep comfortable, while others are working their ass off!

Justice....
It has just been announced on the BBC News that a Chief Police Inspector, Miss April Casburn has been jailed for 15 months, for attempting to sell information to a newspaper. One begs the question - what would the punishment be in Seychelles for someone who has or has attempted to defraud the citizens, as recently identified by the Aljezeera new media?? Similarly, what would be the punishment for the former Governor of the Central Bank Seychelles, for allowing Dollars, 2.8 million to be statched away in Swiss bank accounts?? This was illegal to do at that time. After all, we are supposed to emulate democracy as is being practive by Gt. Britain.
Perhaps we should send our lawers for training in such countries as North Korea, China etc.. and not Britain? Stop bluffing our citizens. Get rid of our National Assembly and get rid of useless judiciary members. Finally, we await to see the outcome of the police investigations vis-a-vis several fraudulent activities as identified by the Seychelles auditors, as reported by the Finance Minister. Get back the peoples money from Swiis bank or Jersey bank. Help our people, especially now that so many need our support.

The church should ask Mr. Laporte to withdraw some of the $2.5 billion from the Swiss bank to help the needy.

WHAT DOES THE CHURCH HAS TO SAY REGARDING THE IMMORAL LAWS THAT IMPRISON OUR YOUTH AND RUIN THEIR FUTURE FOR EXPERIMENTING MARIJUANA?

MICROBIOME :) :) :)

Well in democracy they would be investigated and jialed should they be found guilty. In Seychelles under PP kleptocracy criminals affliated with the regime are protected to the likes of LUCAS,and of course with a justice system controlled by foreigners and answerable solely to Michel, justice cannot be particial.

LAPORTE,as fiance Minister if he is serious can simply lift the phone and contact SNB CEO and prepare for the return of our billions stoeln by PP criminals.By doing so.Laporte would not only be able to pay back our astronomic debts created by Pp,but compensate flood victims, rebuild draiange, rehabilitate our destroyed mountains like on Praslin, create our own Tuna fishinf conmapany and seiners, sponosr Air Seychelles in order to re-start direct operation to EUrope, increase emplyees salary, modernize our Hospitals killing unborn babies under Mitsy, fiance renewable enrgy by putting Solar pannel on houses, could even create our won Cargo fleets since we export 90 percents of our goods and are transported by sea, develop our Outter island as a unique destination, contrcut new DAMS,etc..etc..

Many things could have been finance by such as astronomic amount.

Bring our billions back Laporte!

Aloow me to go outside the issue for i cannot hear this dpnkey Michel repeatedly putting the economic failure of our country on World Economic cirsis.

First of all,Our economic situation has nothing to do with World Economic Crisis not in 2012 nor in 2013,WHY?

1)Seychelles economic does not depend on exports like those Big countries in Europe etc.. that thier revenues come from exports.Seychelles export only Fish, and fishing industry was not affected as other industries ,for i remind you that in 2011 Foriegn tuna seiners made a profit of u$ 3 billion dollars.

Seychelles then depends mostly on Tourism, since 2011 tourism industry has been improving, and in 2012 most countires depending on Tourism like Maldives,Mauritius, and ahve seen a boost in aarival exceeding thier expectation,ONly Seychelles though ,the nicest countiry in the region found himslef dragging behind.and the reason for it is not Wordl economic crisis but the fialure of PP to re-start direct flgiht operation to our main market EUROPE.(Note that the good arrvial quota of Mauritius,Maldives and others were 90 percent European.

Michel illiteracy in economy, bad governance, corruption and abuses are the causes of our staganting economic.

Hundreds of millions have been given to PP since 2008 when Michel bankruted our economy, still no recovery ,and the reaons is bacuase all those millions have been mis-used,stolen,and were not invested to boost and revive our economy. And al as always,no accoutability and transparency on how those hundreds of millions in aid, loan were used.

Take your responsibility PP!Stop bullshiting the world with you redicules donkeys. You have failed on all front ,time to go!

Give us a break St Ange!Stop wasteing tax payers' money PP!This fake carnival representing foreign traditions have nothing to do with waht we expect from a Carnival. If you cannot conduct a carnival that present Seychellois tradition and cultural heritage then stop your fake Carnival St Ange,It does not has any value in the eyes of Seychellois.
